Wheel bearings

Bought brand new wheel bearings last month
Fitted them to the hubs while looking at the miniaddicts video on youtube and now one month later i hear the grinding through the steering column and theres play in the wheels :?
Realy have to get a different everyday car as this thing is doing my head with a different problem evey week

Most likly you didn't tighten the hub nut enough. 200lbs

Did you use good quality tapered roller bearings ?

today i went at it and they did seem very easy to loosen so i got a 3 meter 2" gun barrel pipe and turned it until the car started lifting of the axel stands :lol:
was using unistrut interlocking on the wheels studs and bent it every way lol ending up using a large adjustable spanner and didn't bend that :)
and after a few miles i hear no sounds and theres no movement in the wheels so i think result :)

No but the last time i did and i ended up with the slip pin hole not in one of the slots of te castle nut so i just tightened it to the next slot on the nut

You need to use a torque wrench on this job to do it correctly and give yourself peace of mind.

My torque wrench doesn't go to 200lbs :(
I find 3 grunts just about right.

Aldi have torque wrenches this week, don't know what rating though.
