MIG Welder
HI everyone.
I'm looking to buy a MIG welder and a spot welder and was wondering has anyone got and advice on what MIG to buy, make model and price etc.
What MIG do you have and would you recommend me buying one like yours.
Regards
Steven

i have this 1
http://www.tool-net.co.uk/p-316830/clar ... turbo.html
i really cant fault it, its more or less built a caterham replica and i'v just tubbed my rear arches using it and its barely missed a beat! very easy to use and cheaper than paying someone to weld!

Re: MIG Welder
1stly what will you be hoping to weld with it? thickness etc?
i use a hobby sip 130 migmate and tbh their not worth a sh!t... need alot of mods including installing a seperate wire feed motor to get decent welds.... a welder fitted with a euro torch would be a bonus but otherwise a clarke hobby welder is a good item and produces good welds. also cosmic welders (also made by sip afaik) are supose to be fairly decent.
i wouldn't look at a welder under 130A and although they say it'll weld up to 4mm realisticly it'll comfortably weld about 2.5mm and struggle from that so if you were welding in mounts for cage or bucket seats etc you'd need something up from that!!
i'd recommend a 150A and preferably a non-hobby model for a good all rounder

Personally I have a 180A mig which I find great , I used someone elses hobby mig once and it was terrable. I'v heard good things about inverter welders so this may interest you.

Re: MIG Welder
Buy an expensive good quality MIG and the only pain will be paying for it day one but buy a hobby MIG and it will be painful to use everytime so buy the best you can afford and if it means waiting a while until you have the cash to do so then it will be better in the long run.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.
