165/60/12's on 12x5's ?

Post by Goose »

Hi Guys,

Having problems sourcing good 145/70/12's for the Mini as the GT radials I have on it are nearing their death. There seems to be a deal on Falken Ziex tyres 165/60/12 all around at the minute at €50 a pop. Will they fit the 12x5 cooper alloys ?

If not does anyone have a line on good 145's ? I had Falken Sinceras and were good on grip but horrible for wear......didnt get 6 months out of them.....with a little spirited driving :)

And I said, Officer, I didn't want to be drunk in public...I wanna be drunk in the bar. Now last time I checked it was still legal to be drunk in the bar. They threw me into public...arrest them!

Ok.....the falken Ziex's work out at €55 each and €30 for fitting balancing etc....no valves. So thats €250 all up. put the GT radials on for €200 all up and am not happy with the grip. Happy enough with the price. Any better deals out there guys ?

Darran,

Where in Limerick did you get those Falkens. My local place was looking for €75 a pop which is a big difference.

A small place in Cratloe out towards Shannon. They are shutting down the end of the month and liquidating stock. A friend of mine works there and spotted them in stock and got a good price for me. Dont know if they have any in stock but could possibly order them ?

If you could find out if he has more in stock at that price, I'd appreciate it.

Billy, Eire tyres do these at €55.30 each inc. delivery.
You will have to wait 2/3 days while they come from germany (don't mention the War), but great value if you have someone willing to fit and balance them for reasonable money.

Rang around this morning and got Falken 165/60/12s fitted and balanced for €59 in Rathcormac Tyres. He's ordering another set so call 025-36301 if you're interested. Rathcormac Tyres are 4 miles south of Fermoy, Co. Cork.

Darran,

They're Falken Ziex's. I then brought the car to JD Tyre's in Mitchelstown to get the tracking and rear negative camber properly set up. It seems the local tyre dealers are getting peeved with the internet tyre suppliers and charging a daft €15 to fit any tyre not supplied by them. FYI. 4-wheel tracking at JD's is €35. The car handles much better afterwards.

Very good Billy,

Ya I understand where they are coming from. They are losing out alright. The guy I went to here is on the Dublin road on the city side of Limerick. He has a few Morris' himself and is a classic car enthusiast so knew what he was doing.....where to jack etc.....always good to have someone who knows about the car. I get all the tyres for the Fords off him and he does all my balancing /Tracking. They do the 4 wheel alignment too and its great :) Well worth it.
