rover mini radio code!! HELP NEEDED

Hi guys and gals,
Quick question have bought a 2001 rover mini in the last few months battery went dead which i have since confirmed as a nackered alternator replacement on the way however i changed the bettery to be sure and in doing so radio showed code .... i hadnt seen this before so guesed it twice with 0000 and 1234 radio locked so ive since purchased the radio code and now the radio is still saying wait its been at least 3 hours with the radio on and car driving any ideas what i can do .

what radio ? the original rover unit? where/how did you get the code?

the original rover mmini radio unit yes
i rang a rover garage in blanch they sent an email to rover in england f,you provide vehicle info and they supply code for small fee.

you put the code in by using the up and down scan arrows to select the digit: move to the next position (out of the 4 in the code) with the numeral 1 i think. ill check in my handbook tomorrow. i know the code does *not* go in by just pressing the code numbers on the keypad.

edit: the above works for the rover radio-cassette as fitted to my '93 spi.

ye i know that so far could u check what happens if i put it in wrong and the time it takes to reset...ie "code wait"

I had the same issue, each time you enter the code in wrong the time to reset doubles, eg, 5 min then to 10 min etc, i also emailed for the factory code and paid a fee to discover it didnt take the code even though it was the correct original code, i took the radio out to then discover there was a code written in marker on the radio top, this code worked, someone recoded the radio hence why the original didnt work, might be worth taking the radio out and see is there a code written in marker. would of saved me cash if i had done this at the start, thats if your code dosnt work.
