Hi Lads and lassies, Great website you have here. On my quest looking for a Mini cooper I keep coming up on a few different descriptions of the Original Mini Cooper. What are the differences between the Cooper, John Cooper special and a JCW sport special? I've seen the above advertised but cannot spot the differences!
Also does anyone know of a good one for sale, pref a 1999-2000 model.
Thanks in advance
Kind Regards
John

Re: Cooper, JCW, Sportpack etc?
John,
Welcome to the site. .
Rover produced Mini Coopers from 1990 to 2000. From 1996 on, the MPI (multipoint injection) had the same performance as the standard saloon whereas in earlier versions there was a performance differential.
From '96 on, there was two versions of the Cooper, both with the same performance. The standard Cooper had 12 inch wheels. The Sports pack came with 13 inch wheels, wider arches and other differences. They are known now as Sportspacks and sometimes referred to as Cooper S but there is no difference whatsoever in the engine spec.
John Cooper Garages produced an aftermarket makeover that had improved performance and was known as the S Works.
The JCW (standing for John Cooper Works) is a version of the BMW MINI but I'm open to correction on that.
Hope it helps,
Billy
