well I got back into the mini saddle again last Saturday, here is my second Mini, Elmo. (Small & Red with a black mouth)
finally got a chance to go for a spin with My two today, It was their first trip in a mini ever, and we got some pics up in the Vee Vally, the roads around my house seem designed for minis I swear!
as you can see He's pretty standard, I'm only have to replace some bushings and put in an engine steady, to get his in ship shape. I'm upgrading the brakes, and wheels, and fixing the couple of rust spots soon, and I have the interior mapped out too.
grrrr I pay for 48hour delivery and my parts dont show!? its now been 3days no show!
sigh.
on the other hand took Elmo to the paint shop today, got him booked in with Fran in Portlaiose. so I have a few months to drive about before the strip-down
2 weeks and a few days waiting for the ruddy parts. they get here today, when I'm out of the house for the first time in ages! pox! the local shop was given my parts (dont you love rural Ireland?) and it was shut when I got home. oh I cant wait for tomorrow, christmas!
I have to hound them, to get a reciept after dropping a load on parts, I have to hound them for tracking numbers of packages, and still no info. all I want to to know so I can leave the ruddy house!
My orders where the same. All items showed in stock on there site and then in told it will be two weeks till there back in. A month later I was still waiting. Like someone said you have to hound them for receipts and info.
Shame really cause there prices on certain items are great.
well at long last I get my hands on the final box, after it was sent to Kilkenny, then dropped into Tipp G.station (thank you Blue Network) and my wife playing courior,
a new petrol cap, bumpers, an old grill, orig. grill still on Elmo, and elmo is in fermoy getting brakes fitted. old grill looks well......see what I can do with the orig. one...thinking hard on this one.
Also today, while my wife and daughter slept. work started on breaking ground for Elmo's new house. I know its dark but you get the idea, tis a trench!
have to build a foundation, and blockwork to get it up to the tarmac drive. as my daughter shouted today, "its so exciting, can i drive the digger?"
well got Elmo back today, his new brakes, Wheels and dampers are all set up and he's also got a new ball joint. Now he looks like a Hobo, with new runners. cant wait to get him painted now
you cant see the Spax but they are there, and tis raining heavy now so I'm not bothered going out in it
Question, Should I put on the Painted grill & Bumpers now, or wait till Elmo's paint is done?
well, I was looking at the job I did on the grill, and it was a bit rough, and the petrol cap was dire, so took them back into my workshop today and got them looking allot better. I also gave my wipers a fresh coat of paint, as it seems the original black paint on them didn't even cover them fully. plus it'll help them match the grill, bumpers and cap.
also worked up the interior. I'll be dropping this sketch off to the upholstery guy after I drop the car into Fran in the next week or so. Me and my neighbour going on a road trip that day, my wife is packing the yorkies
well Elmo is still with Fran, so I sealed and painted the floor of his shed, even tested it with the ride-on to see if the paint would lift, but it staying put, even with my two testers trying their best to wreak it.
my Son's mini collage, to make me feel better when I look at an empty shed. All my mini mags are shredded, if anyone wants to donate a stack he'd be in heaven!
