Mini Specialists in Ireland

Post by pearseof »

Hello,
I have a 1998 mini cooper which is in need of a full body restoration, are there any dedicated mini specialist centers in ireland that would restore the bodywork of a mini.

Many thanks

Pearse,

Stick some photos up here. Buy the necessary panels yourself from the likes of Somerford Mini and only use genuine Heritage panels as they fit better. Cheap reproductions will need more fiddling to fit right and if you're paying a panelbeater by the hour, it will cost you extra in labour.

Where in West Cork are you? You could meet up with all the Malin to Mizen Minis this Saturday night/Sunday morning at the Barleycove Hotel in Mizen.

Thanks very much for the advice, I am about 30 minutes from barley cove hotel, near Bantry. Going to take my Mini Cooper sport 2000 to the hotel to give her first show, my 1998 cooper is my daily runner. What time will they be at the hotel? are they staying in the hotel Saturday night?

The Minis will be arriving at Mizen late evening, possibly from 7pm on but there's no set time as they will have driven 400+ miles since 6am that morning. Most will be staying at the Barleycove on the Saturday night.

As regards the restoration of your Mini, my advice is to use someone near you so that you can keep a regular check on progress and my experience of panelbeaters is that you have to keep after them. To keep costs down, try to do as much of the stripping down yourself, bag everything, and take loads of photos.

Give me a shout if you want to chat about it.

Pearse,

That kink in your bonnet is caused by the black control box on the driver's side of the bulkhead pushing up the bonnet.

Its cracked on both sides of the bonnet, i have a feeling that the bonnet blew up on the previous owner and cracked. (cause i had to fix the locking mechanism before it was very dodgey) Ill be replacing it for definite, alot of dents in it!

Hello!

We have opened up our workshop! We're based in Clare and we do full restoration work, bodywork, resprays, servicing etc of Minis if your Red Cooper is still in need of work.

We'll be at Mondello this weekend if you want to see the last few Minis we've worked on.

Or else you can phone: (086)2604658 or (086)3567090

Happy to help :)
When did I know I wanted to become a farmer? Good question. I suppose it was just a feeling I had from my head tomatoes.
