Welcome to the Irish Mini Owners Club forum. Celebrating 30 years of the Irish Mini Owners Club, 60 years of the Mini, 50 years of the Clubman and 20 years of our flagship event MTM
Back when I had the vintage wedding car business, I had access to the test floor as there were certain exemptions for cars pre-1980 being tested. Those lifts are nifty and everything can be controlled with a remote on the top of the tester's torch.
I had similar happen last year with my '92 Mini when they couldn't figure out how to open the (external release) bonnet.
It wasn't funny when I discovered the damage that was done (to my brand new bonnet) as a result of one of the 'technicians' prising it open
I'll be making sure that I explain the intricate workings of a Mini to the NCT staff this year!
Well at least your's didn't nearly go up in flames when it was tested
I'm glad it passed but i need to do some work on it over the summer nothing too major.
The NCT, its a mini adventure
My Dad had a similar experience the last time he took my 1980 Mini 1000 for an NCT.
They still couldn't find anything underneath to fail it on.
Must tell him to bring his camera next time.
