4 pin diff assembly

Post by ian o B »

Hi all, hoping someone might be able to shed sum light here..
Recently purchased a minispares 4 pin diff, i assembled it following the instructions given..
all was turning fine with the first output shaft and 4 planet gears in the cage.. with the second output shaft in it started to turn less easy :| sticking slightly..
then with the crown wheel and 6 bolts on the hole diff became locked (even finger tight). neither output shaft could be turned by hand.. this is hardly right ???? :?:

i assumed this was wrong so i took it apart and tried again..same result. then tried it with the old fibre washers then without.

no luck.. but noticed the diff turns before the 6 bolts are tightened

more than likely im missing something simple

any help apreciated thanks

How much end float is there in the diff with no fibre washers in place ?

A fully carbon fiber Mini Marcos shell weighs just 7.25kg.

Got this sorted with a few hours of sanding fibre washers assembling..and taking the diff apart.. countless amount of times!
now turns freely as it should. :o
