There is also a britpart kit available for land rovers that fits and does the same thing for less money

Quick question i changed the on pionts my mini the other day drove it round the block less less than 1 k seemed ik so to day I was gonna go for a drive started it up let it warm up a little so I started to drive off and its all spluttery I thought I got the gap wrong or something bu on closer inspection the blue plastic bit on the pionts are melted a bit can anyone explain wats go on here

A failed or incorrect condenser can give a very big spark at the points, which can pit or burn the points. Not sure what part of your points are burning, but i would check you have the correct condenser and it's correctly installed.

Two possabilities
1. the cam that the blue plastic runs on should be lightly greeased to stop the plastic wearing.
2. too much current running through points can heat them and melt blue plastic. Faulty condensor, wrong coil ,points too closed.
