Problem with automatic.

An rough idea how much it would cost to repair 1995 automatic.
Have been told forward clutch plate and brake band are gone.
Realise engine has to be removed. Have no experience with automatics.

Not sure car belongs to a cousin of mine, as far as I know car has no forward drive.
Will phone him and find out more.

Was asking about mini, seems it has no forward drive but will drive in reverse.

I'd say it's just your forward clutch that is gone, it's an engine out job, the forward clutch assembly is on the end of the gearbox beneath the pulley, there are 2 clutch plates that you need to replace and I would see about their availability and the availability of seals and gaskets before I did any work.

Have you checked the oil pressure in the transmission ?

Didn't somebody have a couple of spare engines with auto boxes? Was it Gareth?
