Re: 1430 Cooper
Well at long last my new engine is almost ready to go in,
took a bit longer than i had hoped, did plan to go on the MTM.
Will just have to wait till next year!! Hopefully will have it in
at some stage over the weekend.
Cant wait to get it out for a spin!!!

The engine had already been run in as such, it was an ex rally engine. The Marcos Graveyard wrote:What is your running in procedure ?

wouldn't really call that thing a v tech, there's more oil blowing out the exhaust than anything else!!!!StevenR wrote:Good man Sid. I'm looking forward to seeing this go. Should have no problem chewing up a particular zv tech.

thats a common thing wit hondas!! they all burn oil at a rate of 1;1 oil to petrol, similar to a 2 stroke! and as smokysid wrote:wouldn't really call that thing a v tech, there's more oil blowing out the exhaust than anything else!!!!StevenR wrote:Good man Sid. Re: 1430 Cooper
Well at long last its on the road, been a long time waiting!!!
Big thanks to Bert for all the help and annoying questions!!
Its heading up to Llyod in the morning for him set up the carb and the timing,
Really happy with it, plenty of poke!
Its been a bit neglected over the last couple of months so gave it a spit and shine!!
Hope to get it out to a few venues over the summer, would love to go to classic car live
but heading over to the Motogp at silverstone instead

Re: 1430 Cooper
is that a solid state flame thrower coil?
if it is i'd think about changing it a little down the line, they are really meant to be kept in the air flow to keep them cool as with most race and rally cars, stopping and starting in traffic will more than likely see it overheat, degrade and more than likely break down quite rapidly, you'd probably be better off with the road version

Re: 1430 Cooper
Wow nearly a year since a post on the thread!
I had kinda been getting a bit annoyed with the mini lately, driving it every day in and out to the airport and had started using the girlfriends car instead!
It had been sitting outside the house for a good while with a few issues that i had to get sorted but just couldnt have been bothered!
Then on Christmas night it got bloody nicked!! They didnt get very far as the clutch slave cylinder had given up and a valve on one of the wheels had perished and they got a flat
They had done a good bit of paint damage trying to get into it but it wasnt too bad!
Everything has been repaired along with a good few other issues i had-had with it!
A-Panel, door skin, roof corner, front wing and scuttle so im delighted!
Getting the buzz again and cant wait to get out at the weekend, needs a nice spit and shine and a decent spin!!
