VIN NUMBER
Hey,
Looking for help just finished putting my new scuttle panel in today i am told i need put my vin number on it.
Im nearly 100% sure its put on gutter lip of scuttle but what im stuck on is where do i have to print it on it and is it put on a plate or is printed straight to the panel and is there a certain size this should be.
thanks.

Re: VIN NUMBER
the vin number isn't stamped into the bodywork, it's rolled into it .
Re: VIN NUMBER
Get a set of punches & punch windscreen panal where lip of bonett closes down.
Ive done this several timis for nct .
Prop the panal with a bit of heavy flat metal ( take off bonett ) .
Do a trial run on a piece of metal to gauge the amount of force needed for hammer .
If youve already primed & painted panal clean it back to metal then punch .
hard to get a good mark through a lair of primer & paint .

Re: VIN NUMBER
It will be very difficult to do this properly without bending the scuttle panel......the scuttle panel you just spent time and money on.
Get a set of punches and punch the number on the driver's side inner sill (or somewhere else where you will do less damage than the scuttle).
The NCT crowd will only want to see the number punched onto the car somewhere, they really don't mind where as long as you can show it to them.

Re: VIN NUMBER
Hey mgb1978 your right it was really hard to punch the scuttle without damage it i had to prop under the panel with some metal just so i didnt damage it in any way when i hit it worked like a treat. I punched it into the inner sill to so hopefully this will keep nct crowd happy.
