Not turning over - crank shaft sensor ?

Post by Minimacmurph »

Have a problem with a 99 mpi in that I can't get a spark or fuel to turn over from ignition .

It's making a effort to start but just won't start.
Can't get a spark, fuel motor is not engaging but have tested and it's fine.
Thought it might be immobiliser but after a tow it did start purely by coincidence I would say which has led me to think it's crank shaft sensor.

Any advice?

Where would I get a crank shaft sensor at very short notice I.e tomorrow morning in cork?

Was the car running normal and then just fail to start once? Sounds like a loose or broken connection that made contact when towing it.Get it started on a tow again and then move all connections one by one and loom to see if it cuts out.

Ya was running a dream until today, turned over every time first time, tried towing again but hoping for a connection to fall back in place but nothing which has led me to think of crank shaft sensor!

Make sure the loom behind the air filter on the bulkhead isnt damaged
If ya can't fix it with a hammer, its an electrical problem!

Break in the loom near the ecu, had a problem with the clutch slave cylinder so when I was investigating that I must have broke the loom.

Thanks for the advice
