I dunno, they were a production car with the introduction of the Mk V in the early 90's, as complete factory assembled cars were sold by Marcos to Japan, they even had AC fitted.
On an aside, the newly launched Mk VI can't be called a Mini Marcos anymore , the bully boys at BMW threatened them with legal action if they continued to use the name Mini.
It's officially a Marcos Heritage Mk VI now.
And as ever the interest in Japan is very strong, Marcos Heritage even have an official Japanese agent these days.

There are a good number of Mini based Kit cars available in the UK. The Pimlico and Dolmino are two made by the same company. One is a copy of the Classic Mini , whilst the other is a Cabrio version. There were others available 15 yrs ago based on two Mini subframes (Mini Marcos, etc) and electrics, steering etc. Go to Easons and look at the Kit Car mags to see what is available these days. They should also give you an idea of what is involved in putting the Kit together. There were a few different body styles available . Some are like the Mini Marcos, the midas bronse (I think, 'cos the Midas Gold was based on the Mini Metro as a donor car), others are like Mini Moke lookalikes (the Cub). The Pimlico and Dolmino are Fiberglass bodies, whilst others are Metal frames with metal panels.
All I'm trying to say is that where numerous kits available 15 yrs ago , when I looked into it, but I do not know what is available nowadays. WhenI enquired about insurance and tax, I was told thatI would have to pay VAt on the estimated work I would do on putting the Kit onto the road and then having to fight the insurance companies to get it insured.
Good Luck and hopefully we wil see the results of your work at a meet someday.

Dolmino ??? have you been eating too much spaghetti ?
I think you mean Domino. :-)

Many are out of production these days, but examples do come up on eBay from time to time.
As BlackSe7en has said, it's the insurance and the registration that are the problems over here :-(, hence you don't see too many on the road.
Again on the Marcos front, there are a few Irish Mini Marcoses. Back in 1967, they were assembled under licence by Marcos Ireland, 47 cars were built in Dublin from what are believed to be the Mk III molds. They are distinguishable by their chassis numbers which start with the letters MI.
The very first car off the production line is now owned by Des Quinn and was racing in the Phoenix Park earlier in the year.
