Blocking up vents?

Post by daveq »

What's the general consensus on blocking up the vents?

I found a large area of rust around one of mine and wondering whether to repair it or just block it up?

you are going to have to weld metal in there anyway, i'd repair it then rust-proof like a mad thing!

You can get an inner flitch repair panel which you can cut and repair the rust. This is a common rust problem on Minis with fresh air vents and personally speaking I would not block them up as they are very useful on a warm day and as near to A/C as you will get on most Minis. The panel is not expensive as well.

My 73 has the vent holes, but blocked by a round factory fitted panel, held with about 6 small screws. So blocking it should not be a problem.
