Thats a good read there Ian. Sounds like you had an eventful trip and fair play to Gareth and Mick for giving you a dig out.

A great read Ian and great to hear that Bryn had a good time! hopefully we can all do it again next year (but without any drama's pleeeeeeeaaaaaase!)
I feel gutted for Paul and for Mick not finishing the way they wanted to especially because of previous wars,
but as you said, Next year!

At least we were all able to help out such a charming little lad :D

Well writen Ian. I still can't believe how well you guys did. How you and Mick kept going withput sleep i'll never know.

You mentioned over breakfast the next morning that the 3 of us doing a head gasket in just over 26 minutes could be bettered in a workshop envioronment. Well i've just bought a new car with suspect head gasket issues so if you and Mick on for it..............

...........now i should point out its not a mini its a Jag S-Type. Might take a bit longer with 2 heads to lift.......

Messing as i am of course it does highlight how extensive roadside repairs can be on a mini on a run like this that on other cars would be unthinkable. During this years run not only was i invovled with your headgasket (i feel it an honour to have worked with you and mick on that job) but we also re built a front hub in McDonalds car park, Removed rear shock and rebulit on a road side near sligo (the corner where Sebastian Loeb crashed out of WRC) and we rebuilt a front suspension set up after loosing a tie rod nut. (right in the middle lane on the main roundabout in Strabane.)

The unpredictability of the run adds to the excitment and fun on this event. I would love to hear what other problems were overcome over the course of the event......

Well done to all who helped make it a really memorable journey for the both of you.

(Obviously Gareth is working too hard these days and thats why he forgot that it was Marcus Gronholm and not Sebastian Loeb who crashed out of the WRC in Sligo. )

Cheers Joe,

And great news after the conversation we had about Bryn, He WILL now hopefully be with me, but he'll be camping alongside the rest of us... His summer school will be over early on that Friday, so as soon as I can get him back and everything ready we'll start to head down, (P.S. can you try to keep me a wee spot for camping not too far from the toilet block, refreshment area....?)

Cheers
Ian
