trouble with aflatspot in a 95 spi

hi 2 allout,their martin cleary hear ihave a95spi japimport i haven bit of trouble wit aflatspot in t car its bad when cold as the car gets hot it seems to improve little i put new plugs and leads ad new dissey cap on i cheacked the vackumpipes gown 2 the ecu ad under the airfilter housing they all ok i even took petrol tankout and cleand it out thinking mite be water in it its booked in 4 nct on tuesday morn just wondering if any one had the same problem or guide me wat 2 look at now or mabey have none some body that had problem like mine any help would be gratefull thanks martin my phone num is 0868411468 :cry:

usual things apply... . but you seem to have done them all... might be worthwhile unplugging the ECU and spraying a bit of WD-40 or the like in there. its *possible* the lambda is failing, how long since it was changed? i think rover specify a change schedule for that?
before you change the lambda, be sure and try get the errors read by a fault reader though.

SPi is fitted with a manifold heater for when its cold which is controled by the relay box.Could be afaulty heater or relaybox.

my manifold heater hasn't worked for about 4 years, only on the *coldest* mornings did i notice it. mind you changing gear on those mornings was tough too... a sump heater might have been a better idea!


i wonder if the car is running rich or lean in the flatspot, or could it be a timing issue. does it hesitate, spit back, bog down, misfire??

thanks 2 the three lads 4 the bit of info re my flatspot ithink i have it sorted 2moro when i come back from nct i think its my tempature switch witch is at the back of de manafold it was 2 late by time i got off and went 2 motor factors will have one moro lunch time hopley its that i no its gona fail the test its in at 9o clock in morn so theirs noting i can do justwate and see results of the test

A common problem with thoes is often the plug not the sensor itself.

martin c hear thanks 2 evrybody who reploid back 2me re t flatspot in t mini i took out temp sensor switch yestaday ad put it bck in last nite 4nct thismorning cause could not get 1in motr factors started car this morn heading 4nct and it drove fine no prob passed on emissions faild on 2 itims balljiont ad fog lmp sorted them out at home in my garden i found an easy way 2 take out temp sensor withouth taking manafold off i used a couple of ext bars and a flexy nucklejoint ad me rachet it comes out easy bit trickey gwn back in the temp sensor in my car must be an oddball one tryed lods of motor factors ad no 1 has one same as it prob have 2 look in moss or minispeed uk 4 it and thanks agan lads for the help
