These days hosting an IMM costs €150,000 + , so if we intend hosting it again we may have to increase the membership fee.
Personally I don't see it happening any time soon

I was 15 at the last IMM in Bandon - My father brought me down and i bought a centre exit Sportex back box, Courtney 3 spoke steering wheel and a 2nd set of 10'' alloys and tyres for £180
Remember it like it was yesterday, my father took a lot of photos that day, and the car that stood out to me was the matt black speedster, with two German or Dutch guys driving it - one of them asked me if i wanted to go for a spin but i was a little afraid and declined
Great memories of it, would be great for Ireland to host it again. Really need to get my ass back in a Mini

Many people felt last year's IMOC camping weekend was like a miniature IMM. Assuming the event grows each year and people build up knowledge of running a big event, it could certainly happen. The original 1997 organising crew have taken a vow that they would never do it again but there's a lot of enthusiastic members have joined the club in the past 14 years.
Never say never.

Billy,
As soon as the original crew complete all planned projects, then we host another IMM, my project is a garage and that will still be finished before TMG finishes his.

If anyone thinks they might be interested in contemplating the possibility of perhaps considering pondering the idea of hosting another IMM then the might think about attending next years event in Hungary.
Purely for research purposes you understand.

The UK IMMs tend to be big as they are on the significant anniversaries, Birmingham 2009 was 7000+.
Last year in Germany there were 4000+
This year there are 2597 registered to attend.

Wow
So it would well be in the interests of a small town like Bandon to have an event like this - local trade should as petrol stations, restaurants, pubs and shops would make a killing fir the week!
Sounds like with the right town behind it (with town council backing) it could very well be done again. Not easily I am aware (organized small meets and shows before and even these can be a nightmare) but worth investigating all the same.
Would I be right in saying 2 years + planning?

Woody can tell you the exact numbers that came to Bandon in 97 but it was a lot less than it is these days.
An IMM here would cost considerably more to attend than any other in Europe as we are an island with only very expensive ferry crossings.
