*** MTM2011 - RECOVERY SERVICE and ESSENTIAL SPARES LIST ***
Thats it folks,
MTM2011 is now officially closed for entries.
Thanks to all the entrants who have decided to take part this year.
MTM2011 was officially announced on 4th of January 2011 so there has been plenty of time for anyone wishing to participate to get an entry submitted.
We allowed an extra 7 days past the deadline for any late entries.
Please do not submit anymore entries/make phone call enquiries
We have a lot already organised behind the scenes but there is still a lot to be done.
The 3 of us have day jobs so we have a lot to do with our spare time.
We'll now proceed away in the background, to ensure that we present you with a professional event for you all to enjoy.
Once again we would like to thank the huge number of entrants who we hope will enjoy a real Mini adventure on MTM 2011.

Re:
IMOC President and MTM2011 Coordinator Aidan McGrath is soooooo busy behind the scenes that he has asked me (his not so glamorous assistant!) to remind all MTM2011 participants that there will be a Recovery Service for this years event.
The Recovery Service Crew will assist those who may be unfortunate to breakdown by taking their car to a safe place.
It is NOT a breakdown repairs service.
All participants are reminded to ensure that their car is in roathworthy condition and in good mechanical order so as to cover the 450 aprox miles from Mizen Head to Malin Head.
Below is a list of suggested items to bring with you:
1. A fully inflated spare tyre, a jack and wheel brace.
2. Oil, Brake Fluid & Water/Coolant;
3. A set of spanners. 7/16", 1/2", 9/16" will cover most things (11mm, 12mm, 13mm, 14mm if you're stuck)
4. A fan belt, head gasket and a set of points.
5. A coil and a condenser.
6. A bottle of good rad sealer.
7. A mobile phone/charger.
8. Sunglasses – we’ve paid for the sunshine!!
9. Enough cash to pay for your accommodation, petrol, food, and drink!
Also, if you have any doubts regarding your cars’ insurance cover, we would advise you to check NOW with your insurance company to ensure that you have appropriate cover.

Re: *** MTM2011 - RECOVERY SERVICE and ESSENTIAL SPARES LIST
With two weeks to go until MTM now is a good time to get your Mini checked over and get any small faults fixed as these could lead to you not completing MTM.
A wheel bearing with slight play in it now could collapse before it has the round trip completed so get them checked.
Any water/oil leaks, broken exhausts, lights etc should be sorted now.
The breakdown crew may be able to help with small problems but anything major will just have them loading up your Mini on the truck and leaving it in a safe place.

Hopefully this won't be needed but it's a handy item for all classic car owners to carry in their car:
