So whats the biggest PIG of a job you have done on your mini

Post by kona »

I spent 4 Hours under the car yesterday getting my Manifold off the car, it was seized at the Y piece, Not even when glowing red hot would it come off, I game up and cut it out causing as little damage as possible.

Others have been Engine Mounts ( a whole day of fiddling, levering , hitting to get 1 bolt in), Seized Balljoints, the Roll Pin and THAT bolt on the Bell housing.

Anybody have any others?

Removing the split pins from the clevis pins at the bottom of the master cylinder push rods is a fun task.

To make things a bit easier I now use R clips instead of split pins. 8)

Always put a bit of copper grease on the pin when putting it back in and along with the R clip makes things alot easier when you are in the inverted position again.

Theres an easier way ?? Repaired my switch and got a new one but have been avoiding fitting it till it was necessary.
And I said, Officer, I didn't want to be drunk in public...I wanna be drunk in the bar. Now last time I checked it was still legal to be drunk in the bar. They threw me into public...arrest them!

changing the rad on the roadside, only to discover that my "spare" was from a 998 and the bottom hose would *not* fit. This was at night, 20k short of Malin Head.

Depending on who fitted it, the jubilee clip for the bottom hose is a bitch if like me, some genius befor mounted the screw facing the Subframe

Ya removing split pin from clevis pins. It does not help then when I manage to lose one of the clevis pins in the bulkhead area in the small gap where master cyclinder arms drop down. Pin slipped in there . 30 mins later with the aid of small mirror. Magnet and small nut retrieving tool. Got it back.
I just love working on my mini.

In the middle of one now you won't come accross too often, swaping the turbo with the engine in the car.
