So whats the biggest PIG of a job you have done on your mini
I spent 4 Hours under the car yesterday getting my Manifold off the car, it was seized at the Y piece, Not even when glowing red hot would it come off, I game up and cut it out causing as little damage as possible.
Others have been Engine Mounts ( a whole day of fiddling, levering , hitting to get 1 bolt in), Seized Balljoints, the Roll Pin and THAT bolt on the Bell housing.
Anybody have any others?

Removing the split pins from the clevis pins at the bottom of the master cylinder push rods is a fun task.
To make things a bit easier I now use R clips instead of split pins.

Always put a bit of copper grease on the pin when putting it back in and along with the R clip makes things alot easier when you are in the inverted position again.

trying to find a new clubby front bumper
as above, trying to get that split pin out was by far the worst job i had to do on the car when both master cylinders had to be changed!

Cant wait for this pin!, looks like I will have to get some R pins , I need to replace the plate under the clutch master cylinder.
Re: So whats the biggest PIG of a job you have done on your

Re: So whats the biggest PIG of a job you have done on your
Theres an easier way ?? Repaired my switch and got a new one but have been avoiding fitting it till it was necessary.antodeco wrote:Used to be that fecking brake switch. Had a broken back doing it. That was until someone told me an easier way of doing it!
And I said, Officer, I didn't want to be drunk in public...I wanna be drunk in the bar. Now last time I checked it was still legal to be drunk in the bar. They threw me into public...arrest them!

changing the rad on the roadside, only to discover that my "spare" was from a 998 and the bottom hose would *not* fit. This was at night, 20k short of Malin Head.

Depending on who fitted it, the jubilee clip for the bottom hose is a bitch if like me, some genius befor mounted the screw facing the Subframekeith wrote:changing the rad on the roadside, only to discover that my "spare" was from a 998 and the bottom hose would *not* fit. Ya removing split pin from clevis pins. It does not help then when I manage to lose one of the clevis pins in the bulkhead area in the small gap where master cyclinder arms drop down. Pin slipped in there . 30 mins later with the aid of small mirror. Magnet and small nut retrieving tool. Got it back.
I just love working on my mini.

In the middle of one now you won't come accross too often, swaping the turbo with the engine in the car.

Where is the turbo mounted?
Oh If your Flywheel is on tighter than normal, its a Pain in the ass, and if you dont have much time, its not something you want to run into. :/

Re: So whats the biggest PIG of a job you have done on your
Heres the reconditioned turbo
And heres where it goes, below the exhaust manifold
I decided to go for the exhaust clamp rather than the elbow and thats gona be a right pig to get back on. Heads off gettin skimed at the moment so I'll find out Saturday if Ican get it all back in without removing the engine.
