Tyres, Tyres, Tyres…

Post by Mossess »

Oh, and wheels. I’m still in research mode, with an eye towards purchasing. But one of the things I can’t seem to see is where to get tyres? It’s one thing to go off and buy a new set of superspeedy wheels, but where are the options for tyres? And what’s the most (best) common tyre size?

What size wheels are you thinking of 10, 12 or 13 ?

A fully carbon fiber Mini Marcos shell weighs just 7.25kg.

I was thinking 10. Keeping them small. Is there any good reason to go larger?

It depends on what brakes and wheels you have at the moment.
If you have 10 inch wheels and drum brakes you will be fine.
12 inch wheels and 8.4 inch disks will need a brake conversion to get the 10 inch wheels to fit

Try http://www.eiretyres.com/start.html,

They usually have a good selection of tyres and deliver to your door. They also offer discounts in some fitting centres.
And I said, Officer, I didn't want to be drunk in public...I wanna be drunk in the bar. Now last time I checked it was still legal to be drunk in the bar. They threw me into public...arrest them!

If you want to stick with 10" tyres the choice is limited to 3 or 4 makers and as you go up to 13" the choice gets slightly better.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.
