My mini Studio 2 project.

Post by dermosmini »

Hi all,I'm completely new here so would like to say hello everyone and post a few pics of my Mini.I'm stripping it to a rolling shell at the moment. Its my first ever mini and might have been a slight impulse buy and I'm on a very tight budget but I'm well happy i bought it now.I'm going to be needing heaps of advice so sorry in advance for all the questions.

Here's a few pics

Plenty of rust, and finding more each day.Just wondering if there's anyone who restores them in the Kildare area as I'll be looking to get all the panels repaired and or replaced and ready for a respray so any recommendations would be great.
Cheers Dermot.

Well I've got a bit further on the mini, was going to lift engine and sub-frames out but I'm in two minds weather or not to leave them.Had originally planned to strip it to a shell and get it sand blasted but think i'll just get welded sanded and sprayed.I know its the cheapo option but haven't much choice really, here's a few more pics for ye.

This hole looks serious:(

Might get away with just a patch here although its right on the jacking point, but can do without it and just use subframe for jacking
Image
One of the hinges on both side windows has rusted and broken off,is this repairable or am i looking at new windows

Again cheers for the help guys.

Might have to make them fixed in the end,was just thinking how easy it would be for some not so nice person to lever them out and nick stuff.

Another question, anybody used these guys or had any experience with them.

I personally dont know anything about the guys in the ad.....but wouldnt be too happy about them taping up my bonnet badge and spraying around it.
And I said, Officer, I didn't want to be drunk in public...I wanna be drunk in the bar. Now last time I checked it was still legal to be drunk in the bar. They threw me into public...arrest them!

Seems a bit tight-fisted for the sake of new stripes and removing the badge. You'll always be able to make out where the masking was afterwards.

Not a great advert for the business.
