Southern Region "1st Run of 2011" - Sunday 20th February
To kick things off in the Southern Region for 2011, we will be taking part in the Charleville Vintage Car Club's annual Charity Car Run on Sunday 20 February 2011 starting from St. Joseph’s Foundation, Baker’s Road, Charleville, Co. Cork. Charleville is 20 miles south of Limerick on the N20 and 40 miles north of Cork city. It would be great to get club members from all around Munster out for our first run of the season. Even if your Mini isn't ready for the road, why not turn up and sit in with someone else for the day.
http://www.charlevillevintagemotors.ie/ ... vents.html
There is no entry fee but the organisers ask for a charity donation of €20 per car at registration.
I have confirmed this morning with Dominic Treacy of the Charleville club that all classic Minis will be welcome irrespective of age.
The Run kicks off with a complimentary cuppa for all participants at St. Josephs and all cars are given a routebook and a goody bag. The Run finishes back in Charleville and there is the option of having a meal at a local restaurant.
If anyone wants more details, let me know.

Great stuff. Dick Mason and possibly Mike Maloney, both from Tralee, should be travelling as well.shaig_k wrote:shaun k .if i can get her going in time for it

FYI, cars will be assembling at St. Josephs from 10.30am on the Sunday morning to give plenty of time for registration and a cuppa.

Re: Southern Region "1st Run of 2011" - Sunday 20th February
If you live in Munster and were a paid-up member in 2010 or have paid up for 2011, you should have received an e-mail last week and a text message from IMOC last night regarding next Sunday's Charleville Vintage Run. If not, PM me on this site or text me at 087-4195640 and I'll get your details updated.
Anyone without e-mail will also get a letter outlining the plans for 2011.
Your 2011 membership is now due and remains at just €20 for 2011. I will be bringing spare forms on Sunday or you can print off a membership on the main club website. Unpaid members will not receive any further updates from the end of February.

Weather looking cloudy but dry for tomorrow's run in Charleville.
http://www.accuweather.com/ukie/forecas ... &hbhhour=7
Cars to assemble from 10.30am. Register when you arrive and have a complimentary cuppa in the canteen before the run starts.
If you're running late, give me a shout in the morning.

Re: Southern Region "1st Run of 2011" - Sunday 20th February
Thanks to everyone who took part in yesterday's run. In total we had 12 Minis whose owners travelled from Clare, Limerick, Kerry, and Cork. Our contributions to the two charities came to €240 so well done all.
The route was extremely well signposted and marshalled and while some of the roads were dodgy, it was a good sociable afternoon.
Once we got back to Charleville, those club members present got together and we decided that as the Southern Region is spread all over Munster, meetings just aren't practical. Instead we agreed that at each run/event we do, we will plan 2-3 months in advance. As there was no interest in attending the Durrow Show in April, we decided we would do our own thing instead. So the coming months look like this for the Southern Region:
March 17th: Paddy's Day Parade in Mallow, Co. Cork
April 17th: SR run to Kilgarvan Motor Museum. Run to be organised by Dick Mason, Tralee.
Photos of yesterday's run to follow from Eamospud.

FYI, yesterday's route took in parts of north Cork and south Limerick in Ballyhoura Country. Basically it was Charleville-Ballyhea-Doneraile-Farrahy (where the brown Mini was on its side in the farmyard)-Kildorrery-Ballyorgan-T.O. Park (where we had the tea and scones)-Glenbrohane-Ballylanders-Kilfinnane-Ardpatrick-Ballyhea-Charleville Golf Club.

The start at St. Josephs

Mike Mulcahy's 1330 with big Weber

Tea Stop at T.O. Park, Labbamolloga

And finally back at the Charleville Golf Club, dlampkin left his mark:

Great day out & a good start to the year for the SR, I was very happy with the new car and it was mighty meeting up with other members again after the winter break.
Run was well planned out and fair play to the marshals who were out on the route looking after everyone.
