Cleaning up a subframe

Post by bc130 »

Hi lads, just wondering what is the best type of paint for a subframe. I am cleaning up the front and back subframes and im wondering if hammerite would be good enough to paint them with or should I spray them. Cheers.

I have tried Hammerite and only gloss type paints with varied success.I have had my last subframe powdercoated but have yet to take it out.As regards paint I have heard good things about Por 15 but it is hard to get.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

I bought Por 15 a few years ago from Frosts in the UK and they still stock it as far as I know.

Try these guys, http://www.rustaway.ie/ its a UK company with a base here, they have good reviews in all the classic car mags, I'm going to be using it on my next project.

Did anyone here use the rustaway products in the end/yet?

I'm just wondering too would the starter pack be enough to do both subframes or would you need the chassis pack?
Thanks

I ended up using "LOWE". Its a machinery paint and seems to be good stuff.
