scraping/squeeking noise

Post by smur89 »

Noticed this the other day, theres a scraping noise and sometimes a squeeking type of noise (hard to describe coming from the wheels (maybe?). it only happens when the car is moving, even if its only at 1mph, youll hear it.... sounds to me like its something to do with the wheels as the noise changes/slows as the wheels slow down.

What could be going on?

Worn knuckle joints make a squeaking noise.

How loud is it?

Does the sound change when you brake?
When you are moving and you can hear it, lightly press the brake. Enough so the pads make contact but also not enough so you keep moving. See if it changes.

Does it happen only going straight or only turning or all the time?

When it happens, is it uniform all the time or on/off like scrape.......scrape........scrape

Its like scrape....scrape....scrape....

Turned out to be a bearing on the way out. The wheel seized up and dragged me towards the kerb. its unseized itself now. Gonna get it looked at before i take it out again though.
