Mini Van In Trouble (Life or Death)

Post by DoyleL »

Hello,
I have a 1981 mini van. Body in bad condition. Front end good condition. Needs new floor etc. Back rear quater panels had glass installed badly and rusted to bits. What can I do. I understand that rear quater panels are not available. Is it possible to cut the panels out and turn it into a pick up. Any one any good ideas.

regards

Liam

Liam,

There's a very rough van dumped near me. I'll check what the quarter panels are like. The van is basically scrap and is there for the taking. I've been offered it myself but it's too far gone.

Give me a day or two and I'll get back to you.

Also, if you look at the Gallery on this website's homepage, you will see a van rescued somewhere. I don't know who owns it but perhaps they might reply to your post.

Billy

From what I have heard that particular van disintegrated upon removal.

The Van very nearly did disintergrate save amazingly for the smooth roof and quater panels which are in excelent condition and available for sale from zakgt.

Went to see that van near me this afternoon. The smooth roof with vent hole is ready to be lifted off but the quarter panels are quite good. The rear floor is in great shape. Don't know what year but it look like a '60s model.

Scary thought: with Zak's smooth roof, this van near me could be a viable proposition. It's been lying in an open shed nearby for years. Sure it needs floors, sills, and wings but won't any old Mini.

Methinks it's time for further investigation.

Liam,

I've been told who to talk to about the van near me. I hope to have an answer soon. I reckon it can be had for nothing and the sections where the windows have been cut out in yours on fine on this one.

Also the rear van floor is very good.

Call me at 087-4195640 if you want to talk more or if you want to come see this one.
