For someone who hasn't been at the PP Races but has heard good things about it, will there be many Minis/classics/vintage taking part?

What time does it start?

Isn't the Powerscourt Picnic clashing with it?

Should we put up a club stand in the Phoenix Park instead?

Loads of questions........ It's been a busy week

Phoenix Park Motor Races

Post by wzd345 »

Hi Billy

All the info you need about the event is on the website:
Phoenixparkmotorraces.org.

The event has been totally restructured & is promoted by the various driver categories & run by Leinster Motor Club. We have secured an impressive lineup of sponsors. There will be approx 200 cars racing in the various categories over the 2 days. The Irish Historic Racing Car Association, for cars built before 31 Dec 1974, will put out a field of 30 cars each day. There are 5 or 6 Minis which compete regularly in this category in Ireland. My own car, DZU 499 is a UK built Mini Miglia racer, 1430cc, `race no 51 & it will be at the Park along with a number of others.

There will be a classic car show within the paddock area, consisting of a number of invited entries. There are no arrangements for others to put up a stand or anything else within the confines of the race secured zone. As far the picnic you mention is concerned, I know nothing. I just put the note up by way of information.

A lot of effort has gone into relaunching this meeting & it is well worth a visit. Come along & enjoy, its free. Look me up in the paddock.

Regards
Eamonn

Excellent website. Well worth a visit, especially the Historics page where you click on the different makes to get a differnt picture. Very professional.

From an IMOC point of view, would it be worthwhile to combine both the Races and the Picnic into one i.e. have a picnic to the sound of racing engines and give support to a fellow Mini enthusiast?

ER folks, what do ye think?

Brought young Hugh to see Pixar's CARS last night. Loads of encouraging vroom, vroom sounds from him on the way home.

I think it's time for him to see the real thing.

Anyone else apart from Eamonn going to Phoenix Park on Sunday?

Mags, myself and the two boys went to see CARS on Sunday too, great film, not as funny as Shriek or Toy Story, but it held every-ones interest for the 2 hours running time, and that's saying something.
Hope to get to the Park on the Sunday. Hope the weather stays decent, picnic at the Cross anyone ???

Anyone know what time the racing starts ?

Got an invite to drive Lotus on track but since its taken 2months to get the head off I can't see me getting it back on in 3 days. Could be better than our '89 lap in minis only without the back seat passengers to scare, some people just are not used to minis and chichanes.

Thought about calling in the troops but the car is 6'4" in a garage 7'8" and theres only room for one in the engine bay so whats the point.
Don't worry though you can still come and help on the Hornet for mtm, Chinese and Indian both very good in Drogheda.
