Please look at my nuts !
I have a 1990 Checkmate that came new on Minilite style wheels. The problem I have is with the wheel nuts. The wheel brace dosnt fit them. They are 16.5mm across the flats. Do these look like the correct original nuts or have they been replaced at some stage please.

I'm with Mr. Mack. Never seen nuts like that on a Mini. I'm almost sure there aftermarket.

I think they are 11/16 those nuts are standard, they came on my cooper too, they are just missing the cap that goes over the top.

It looks like one of the lock nuts off my 89 "racing green" which has a chrome cap to cover it off to make it look like the rest of em.

Kona is spot on,these are Rover nuts with the stainless steel cap missing.if you don,t use a 11/16 socket,a six sided one is best, the nut will become rounded like the one in the picture and be quite hard to remove.

Thanks for the replies.
If I get an 11/16 wrench then it wont fit the jack, or was the jack 11/16 too ??

Re: Please look at my nuts !
The nut is the correct shape not rounded. If you have the correct 6 sided imperial socket or wheelbrace you can remove the nut with the cover in place. If you use a slightly larger metric socket (like most tyre depots) it distorts the cover and it will not allow the proper imperial socket to fit back over it, it also losens the cover so it falls off like the one in the picture.I tried to find a chrome nut that would fit that wheel but I couldn't get one that sat right.

Re: Please look at my nuts !
jack is 11/16 too. much easier to use a ratchet with the jack, as the brace i find hits the door and seat. ratchet does the job way faster.
