Hey, well I finally got my latest mini, and very happy I am too. Should be on the road by the end of August. Hoping to catch the end of season events, but one thing that saddens me as a newcomer to the website, is the constant online bickering about certains themes.. can't these issues be discussed offline, as I think it is quite offputting for potential newcomers! Hope I don't stand on too many toes! but I felt someone had to say something. Ireland is too small!! Hoping to see you all soon, Yours in Mini'ing Harry.

Harry, first of all, good luck with your latest Mini.

While your comments about some recent discussions are probably valid, this forum is currently the only method outside of an AGM for IMOC members to voice their opinions on issues which affect the club.

Personally I believe the Irish Mini Owners Club is in transition where some decisions on the direction of the club will need to be made but let's not go into them here as they are well covered elsewhere. Several new Mini/MINI clubs have been set up around Ireland in recent years and the IMOC has got to work on ways to re-establish its own identity and be able to offer good value to its members and provide the benefits of a national club e.g. event insurance, maintaining this forum and the http://www.irishminis.ie website, regular communications to members etc.

The most regular contributors are often those who have been members of the club for many years, including some from the club's formation back in 1989. If at times we get a bit excited in our forum contributions (and I very much include myself here), it's usually (but not always correctly) because we have felt strongly about certain issues and the potential impact to the IMOC.

Bear in mind though, the vast majority of discussions on the forum are related to technical discussions where members give freely of their advice to help other contributors, often first-time Mini owners. We all have a common interest in Minis but may not always agree on how the club should operate.

This forum is free to anyone to use. You don't have to be a member of the Irish Mini Owners Club to access it. But if you are not a member already and feel like joining (and don't forget your membership fee contributes to the upkeep of this forum), then go to the irishminis.ie homepage and print off a membership form.

Welcome to the forum harry and I hope you take the next step and join the club.
Being a truly national club this forum is an excelent tool for members to keep in touch and for non-members to get some idea of whats going on in the club before deciding to join or not. Disscussions go on in all clubs about all aspects of thoes club and so no club will satisfy all its members all the time but at least here they can have their say in an open forum for all to hear.
In general anybody bickkering will just as quickly offer good advice to somebody in need.

tanx for the replys guys,maybe its just my way of looking at everything in the negative instead of positive .sometimes life can make a person that way. as a past member i am very much looking forward to joining the club again and in defence of said club i was a member 1999-2ooo and must say met some of the most frendly fun loveing, welcomeing people one could hope to meet.hope to see ye all again soon!

sold the trailer to same person i sold the matching yellow mini, would love to know where it is now,if any one has it n its for sale please let me know.otherwise another one is on the cards !

Just kidding Harry... Glad to see you went with the Mini choice. Are you gonna do the MTM2007 in the new addition? Pauline should be old enough to be your co-driver now.

Ah yea ,I knew this ribbing would come sooner or later best to get it over with :oops: me thinks braked trailer, uprated car brakes, n lose about 4 stone,first two not a problem third might be a no go.! yes will be looking forward to mtm2007, have to admit loved the fri to sun format rather than a one dayer, at the speed i drive i think ide need 2 days at least, an yes pauline will b there to say things like ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :o

hi folks,
Harry would yours have been the mini and mini trailer combo in bright yellow that was sold to the clonmel area about 2001/2002?
a local lad had it for about a year, dont know where it went to but i could try and find out if you like..
i think i might have a picture some where if u want one

thats the outfit allright fair play for finding it ,first photos of it looked terrible (nothing like its first outing mtm2000) but present owner is doing a great job on it an its looking cool.

My God, some amount of work has gone into that car. It looks the dogs b***x. Somehow though I doubt the current owner will sell it back to you now Harry...

Last time I remember that car, I was sitting in the passenger seat at MTM2000 from Grange in Sligo to Buncrana (At that stage Simon was becoming familiar to being rear ended!). Pity it didn't have those big comfy bucket seats in it back then, Harry. It wouldn't have been so bad getting lost and taking hours to get to the hotel if I had seats like that to sit in, hehe....

we were not lost Jay,we were just takeing the more adventureist route,me getting lost a lot is just a nasty rumour ,like that one that when i worked in dublin as a couier for six years they never sent me over the southside they did (ONCE!)

I'm sorry Harry. Did I say lost... What I meant was, taking our time the scenic way. Remember that petrol station we pulled into to ask for a "more scenic route", and the guy hadn't a clue where we were looking for... That was when we realised we were really lost, oops I mean in a really scenic part of the country!
Sure maybe we can visit yer man again next year. I'll have Andy's Hornet so there'll be plenty of room in the boot in case we need to fill some spare petrol cans or flares or food and water and any other provisions we may need before hand. Just in case!
