Just wondering can you get matt black lacquer just in a normal spray can or can you only get it for a spray gun?

anything you can get for a spray gun can be put into a rattle can!,

I used to use J & S Auto parts out in Dunlaoire, they could put any paint they mixed into a rattle can too,
don't know if they're still there though?

They are. I stopped using them for paint though as their mixes were so inconsistent.

Any motor factors should have matt black paint (and satin black as well as gloss black) in an aerosol can. Prefer satin finish myself, but each to their own! Not sure what you mean by "matt black lacquer" though, lacquer is a clear coat, usually applied over a metallic basecoat.

if you apply the matt black underneath it is still permiable, once the clear coat is applied it seals the top layer and protects the paint underneath,
with a matt paint needing a matt finish you need to use a specialised top coat that doesn't come readily available in a rattle can, so he'd have to get it done by a specialist

you need to get a ''matting agent'' and this is then mixed with lacquer if you wanted to keep your matte look..
whether you'l be able to find it in a can i dont know, there's a paint supplier based in monaghan where i got my stuff, cant find the number sorry.
some day....
