Post by smur89 »

So.. someone rear ended me and pushed me into the car in front.

She said she was looking at a car in the right hand lane because he was indicating into our lane and went straight into the back of me... i reckon she sped up so he couldnt cut in and ended up in the back of me.

Oh, and she had no insurance. Great.... Her car was seized and shes being prosecuted.

Took more pics when i got home. will post them later.

Thanks Gareth, thats very kind.

She was Swedish, but she was living in Kildare. The accident was just where the Luas crosses the belgard road.

I brought the car to my bro's gf's dad (has done the bodywork for me in the past). and he reckons theres a few grand worth of damage done to it..

Yeah nothing racial there just seems a good percentage of the uninsured on the road are not irish nationals. Especially those in Toyota Yaris not a evo or some Tallagh boy racers high insurance group car.....

Sorry to hear that, bad luck. People are always diving into that lane, after the lights.
Did you damage the car in front of you? Your insurance will have to cover that if you did irrespective of the insurance on the person hitting you.

The car infront had very little damage, maybe a few scrapes. Mostly just dust from my 2 spots exploding on his bumper. Mightny even bother claiming off me, but if he does, ill claim that back from the MIBI too.

I have gotten myself a solicitor and have been onto the MIBI. The claim is now gone in. I will be getting my insurance bumped up to comprehensive (coming out of the claim) to allow me to use a rental car (from the claim) and someone will be out to inspect the car on tuesday or wednesday (coming from the claim). Solicitor is taking their pay from the claim also.

I went to a garage and they quoted me 4800 to repair the damage. (I know this is excessive, thats why i went to them, knew id be ripped off.) Guy coming on tuesday will most likely push this quote down to a more realistic level.

In a beter mood now that i know something is happening. And i hope the bitch in the Yaris has to pay every penny and the government dont get stung for any of it!

Just be carefull Shane, remember Buddy's incident. The insurance company might try to write off the car saying the cost to repair exceeds the cars value.

Shane, if she is not insured, contact http://www.mibi.ie/. All premiums paid, have a certain percentage paid towards them. Once you have the person who crashed into you, and can prove you they didnt have insurance, they will cover you all costs, and take a civil action against her to recoup the costs.

Best of luck

EDIT: Apologies, didnt realise you were already in contact with them!

no worries anto deco, appreciate the advice.

Im waiting on the solicitors quote and then i will ask the guy I want to do it if he would want to do it for a few hundred less. Id rather give him the business than someone else. And if he can make a few quid off it, all the better. so, say the insurace guy comes back with saying 3800 should cover it, maybe if my guy could offer to do it for 3500, happy days... you know? I dont want the car written off.

I had a pain in my lower back for an hour or 2 after the crash, that went away though. Had a stiff neck and a headache today, but i dont think its anything worth fussing over. I didnt go to the hospital, Im not claiming for it, I just want my mini fixed and ill be happy.

what speed was she doing the back end of your car looks worse then mine when I spun my car in to a barrier at 60mph. Best of luck with the repairs by the way for them to write the car off they have to prove the damage exceeds the value of the car and if your not happy with the value they give you can ask the insurance to replace your car with a similar car if they can't their value is wrong. I hope it works the same as normal but since the other party wasn't insured I don't know if the rules are different. Best of luck with it

Have no idea what speed she was going. Was fast enough though, I felt some whack when it happened, and the damage speaks for itself

Salvage available 2000 cooper s

Post by smur89 »

The car is now a CAT D write off. If anyone is interested in salvaging this please make me a reasonable offer. I already have 2 offers of over 1000 euro, so bear this in mind before you get in touch.

Financially, with me going back to college, taking the settlement is the only way to go really. But it's a shame to see the mini go. Was 100% before the accident.
