Message for Dave C, could you contact D Seven at 087 2210651,regarding my MK1 project, sister car of WZA676....my car is TZA492,and is almost completed, i would like to photo engine bay ... Thank!s.
Mine is a 1960 Austin Seven, original Irish reg, with all the features of the early cars - dash lights under speedo, lights in rear companion boxes, combined front sidelights and indicators, chrome push buttons for sliding windows, floor start, dodgy synchromesh, rust, flat sills, rust, rust and more rust. Anything else you would like to know?
Are your sills part of the floor or seperate panel. On very early cars the outer sills were part of the floorpan and the inner sills were seperate panels, then they changed to the later format of the inner sills being part of the floorpan and seperate outter sills. The only early ones I've seen where both '59's owned by Mickey.
DaveC, thanks for the info. Does your Austin have a Lincoln & Nolan plate under the bonnet along with an Austin chassis plate? FYI, I've 2 Irish CKD minis 1. PIM91 Morris Cooper Mk1 2. PIM872 Austin 850 Auto.
Hi Billy my car is identical spec. to Dave C!s, even the same tartan red colour. No lincoln & nolan plate but just a chassis no. AA2S7 27127 and it was first registered in Sept 1960. It was first sold through Modern Motors on the crumlin road in Dublin, as it still has the original garage sticker on the dash rail.
The other check for an Irish-assembled car is to look at the windows. Triplex had a factory in Templemore, Co. Tipp and all the glass from that factory had a shamrock etched into the logo. Check it out.
my 68 has the shamrock on the windows its an 850 and is currently being finished by somerford mini who are doing a complete shell resto. It should be finished this week so its off to engerland in the white van to collect it.I just need to make sure that a shell will fit in tne back of a transit,it will be tight but I think it will go,will do a trial fit with a rusty shell before I go,wouldn,t do to arrive over and it not fit, though there is the roof rack
I saw a photo in one of the mini magazines of somebody having transported a GT in the back of a Transit so you should be safe enough. Just keep plenty of padding on the new paint!
I transported a Lotus Elan in the back of a van once. Used some car seats as cushions but grit got between them and the Elan and "sanded" the paint. Just a word of caution.
. . . of course, I was transporting 2500 miles across the USA at the time!!
i will give blackie connors a buzz and see has he a spare lorry cos the lady in enterprise rentals poured holly water on me and shook garlic in my direction when i mentioned i was going to engerland, any as we speak a toebar is being fitted to the familymobile and i,m off on the 24th with transporter in tow to collect it,its probably for the best cos if anything happened the paint i might be a tad UPSET will post pics of the collection on the gallery when it happens
