Most of the major suppliers in the UK have their own take on the "stage 1" kit, it's basically some form of free-flow exhaust, an inlet manifold, an uprated air filter and a different needle. Fitting is straight forward enough, but to see proper gains you would need to have the car set up on a rolling road.
Prices depend on the type of exhaust really, which tailpipe you go for and what metal it's made of. The rest of the parts are basically the same.
Make sure you know what kit is needed for your type of Mini first. whether it has a cat or not, Mpi, Spi or carb.

The prices will vary as most suppliers do deals with the manufacturers which enables them to produce a kit that will be saleable at a keen price, but the main cost in the kit is the exhaust, if you go for a kit with a good named system then the price will be higher than one with a "budget" system.
Most kits will offer the same gaskets, exhaust fixings and needle, it's the combination of the air-filter (type/make) the inlet manifold (make) and the exhaust system/manifold that determine the price really.
The breakdown would be,
Torque-master inlet Manifold £37.00
Mani-flow LCB £62.00
Mani-flow twin box centre exit system £80.00
Exhaust fitting kit £12.00
Exhaust gasket £1.00
K&N Air-filter element £26.00
Total £218.00
Mini Spares do a stage 1 kit with an RC40 exhaust for £170, the RC40 system is £26.00 cheaper, so in effect the kit as a whole saves you about £25.
Dont forget that there will be postage costs on top of this.
Irene Woods, in Aughnacloy in the North, is the agent for Mini Sport, if you ordered through them it might be easier for you to pick up the stuff and save yourself the postage.
