spray painting tips/help??

Post by benfox1515 »

over the last two weeks I have been working out the rust spots on the mini, treated them and filled them in. The easy part!! I am now starting to spray it, using aerasol spray paint made up by vinny byrnes. I have done a few coats of primer and a few coats of the colour, but its not blending in well with the orginal paint as it is not very shiney! When I got the paint I asked them did I need lacquer and they said there was no need as the paint is a high gloss. Is it just a thing that I have not done enough top coats?? I think I did about three?

Are you spraying inside or outside ???

Cold weather or cold panels can affect the finish on paint.

As for blending in with the original colour that will be nearly impossible as the original paint would have faded over the years.

Its near impossible to match paint with aerasol paint to get a shine..

youll have to spray to the seems on the body or the hole panels that your working on.this will not make the areas you did stand out to much..

The new paint is nearly a match for it. I didn't have the code as it's not the original colour so vinny Byrnes matched it for me. It's when I have it on the new paint is very matted not shiney at all

Spraying outside, unfortunately. But weather had not been too cold.

It is a dark blue. How would you apply the thinner!? Would it be in an aerosol!?
