Welcome to the Irish Mini Owners Club forum. Celebrating 30 years of the Irish Mini Owners Club, 60 years of the Mini, 50 years of the Clubman and 20 years of our flagship event MTM
well lads got back safe and sound. some bit a drive'n on the way down to carrick! seriously though for my first MTM it was an unreal event, theres a great sense of satisfaction when you reach malin, and the atmosphere is just class. it was some serious crack too meeting all the people that ya do be chatn to on the forum. well done to all the people involved in organising such a huge event, everything went off with out a hitch, you will definity see me there next year...roll on 2011!
thanks a million to tommy c who stoped in for me when the head gasket blow, joe who came from carrick to Belturbet to pick up the original head gasket and got stuck in straight in and steven ryan who offered me a spare head gasket (i think thats in joes car actually so must get it back to ya!!)with out them i wouldnt have made malin head!! thanks lads
my journey started on friday morning in dublin when we left for Limerick to meet colin and the lads...
Great set of photos there Jason-makes me feel like I actually got to follow that part of the route afterall!!
The series of pics with yee lads doing the head gasket is fantastic and shows what a bit of determination can do.
The Mini World Spirit of the Event trophy was well deserved
Speaking of which, I'll be in touch soon regarding an official handover of the trophy once it arrives!
i was privileged to experience the "Whyte Experience" when you stopped to help with the bottom hose on my rad.... ! we didn't get the hose on, but the burst of energy after a 15 hour drive was very welcome! thanks again, guys!
and just to finish off posting my picks, colin typed in to the satnav the furthest point north, and away we went, a convoy with colin in front in joes mini, myself in the middle and joe in the toyota behind...we had alot of making up to do!!
and we made it!!

Glad you got sorted Jason, don't worry about the head gasket.
one word come comes to mind when seeing a head gasket being changed on the road!! Heroic
saw a load of minis on the way back from college in the viaduct in my own mini! called in and followed to bandon but had to break off from there!! maybe next year
glad yee all had a great weekend. pity we couldn't follow through... just want to say thanks to everybody and thanks for not having pics up of the "guiness spill" down in molls gap, its bad enough seeing it everytime either of us go out to the garage...

What Minis have you?: 1988 Mini Mayfair 998, 1971 Mini 1000, 2001 Transit Recovery Truck, 2001 fiat ducato camper, 2008 Kia cee’d, 1996 VW transporter T4, 1995 ford escort cabriolet.
Consider it just another small hick up in the mini ownership experiance.... Nothing that cant be sorted.
Have been discussing with martin murphy about having a MTM reunion run to get those who didn't get to the run or complete the run and also for everyone to meet up. We're talking about meeting along the east coast and heading down Dungavan way and hopefully get the Cork boys to do a run up the way and meet us there. When we met in Dungarvan we have something a bit 'different' planned..........
All will be revealed shortly....... Should be a Saturday in about 6 weeks time or so to give all a chance to get back on the road.......
Kenny, get the finger out and stop using the garage as a bump stop. And Paul,I know Mick must be gutted but hopefully we will see "Arthur" out and about on MTM next year.

Will be down in the sunny south east last weekend in June so maybe convinced to bring the Mini along if it falls on that weekend.
