Buying Cooper in the UK

Post by quinmichael »

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of Buying another Cooper in the UK, Lovely 1999 BRG with a full cloth roof, 25000K on the clock. I just don't want to get stung, the photos of the underside look OK to me and the guy selling it said the rust has been done recently but I'm afraid it's just been masked over. Any opinions from the limited 3 photos would be great!

Thanks in advance!

You need to get pictures of the cills,a panels, scuttle panel, windscreen surround, boot floor, door bottoms and front panel to get a better picture of the overall condition of the car.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

if the engine has been modified it may prove troublesome to get it past the NCT.... UK MOT is much more lenient for emissions it appears.

Hi, I've got a nice 2000 Cooper Sport SE with 37,000 miles in Racing Green that I'm looking to sell and it's in the North (about 20 miles from Belfast) so it will save you a trip to England.

I'm just about to do a deal with a guy in England so let me know if you are interested and I can send you more info & pics.

Regards

Paul

If the milage is correct and verified thats only 2000 per year which means it may only have been used in summer and is fine. Only odd thing in pics is the difference in the two inner CVs which sujests work done, 25,000?

Thanks guys of for the replies, I don't get a good feeling about this one so I think I might let her go! Just have a look at the 'recently fixed' Scuttle and windscreen in the photo below?

Paulb I PM'd you about your yoke just to let you know.

Thanks again chaps

Not for sure on that one. If you look there is a seap of oil on that side you can see it running down the exhaust. So that is going to 'preserve' the cv that side meaning it wont go that rusty brown colour. Tha boot clips look nice and origanal.

But of course its hard to know either way from a photo.
