When you turn on the headlights to the first position on the main switch the parking light comes on, the second position on the switch turns on the headlight main bulb, then a flick of the stalk will light the second element in the main bulb and give you your high beams.

From your post I think it is your high beams that are not working, is it on one headlamp or both ?

Check to see if you are getting power at the stalk on the blue wire with the white trace, this is the output feed from the dip switch, the solid blue wire at the stalk is the input feed which comes from the light switch in the dash, no power out but power in suggests a faulty dip switch, It might be possible to repair if it is only a contact problem.

Can you flash the headlights BTW ?

At the front of the car near the bonnet lock there is a bunch of bullet connectors, cheak the blue/white connections. Sometimes if a car has been fitted with spots connected directly to the light wires without using relays it can damage the dip switch
