mtm preperations
got a lot of prep work done on mini for mtm, weather held out which was good as i work on the driveway.
1. changed oil and filter
2. checked all fluid levels (brake, clutch, radiator, windscreen washer)
3. greased upper and lower steering swivel hub, upper suspension arm inner pivot, rear radius arm
4. check battery connections and level
5. check tyre pressures and tyre tread (found a nail in drivers front and rear tyres, so off to tyre fitters tomorrow)
6. checked horn, indicators, wipers and all lights
7. checked front and rear brakes for wear
8. checked fanbelt for wear and cracking
9. checked wiper blades
10. repaired small hole in exhaust and checked mountings
11 checked spark plugs and ht leads
so all thats hopefully left to do before setting out is
1. wash and clean car
2. fill up with petrol (and fill jerry can)
3. check tyre pressures again while at garage
4. recheck oil level
5. recheck radiator level
6. pack car with tools and other equipment that may be needed. (mustnt forget change of clothes)
8. get money from bank - hopefully there will be money there
9. check drivers licence is in car
have many others made their final preps this weekend and i hope they went well.
(only had 1 mishap, when i went to move the pan i used to catch used oil in, i spilt some over driveway, just spent last hour trying to clean it up )

Re: mtm preperations
Fair dues to you Dean!
I'm still tryin to discover whats causing coolant to leak from my heater into the car.
I replaced the entire heater unit Saturday and all was fine for a while but the leak is back
I dismantled everything today and redid it all but to no avail....
Hopefully, Number 8 can help me discover what the problem is tomorrow.....
Failing all else, I think that a by pass job might suffice cos I aint leaving my Mini behind for MTM!!!

Re: mtm preperations
Had the car up in Bert's on Sunday and got two new CV joints and a couple of extra engine steadies fitted.
Have been using the car to travel to work in this week which is a 45 mile round trip each day. She is a bit heavier on the juice than my daily but the toll is free .
I'll higher and soften the rear suspension today to save my back and arches shattering to little pieces. And between today and tomorrow i'll be going through all the major nuts and bolts to make sure they're all good and tight. Then its just top up all the fluids, fit a new battery and pack.
I'll be starting my journey tomorrow evening so will get up early on Friday and do a few minor checks before setting off.

Re: mtm preperations
actually we do - sort of
Since she was just restored over the winter, all I had to do recently was new spark plugs and replacing a broken wheel stud that the painter overtightened...
the only thing left to do is to put in the seat extension brackets for my benefit as I am 6"4' (193cm)
and she'll get a check (pre-NCT test = thorough checkover for a good price) from a local garage tomorrow morning
