Painting chrome bumpers
I cant find the post now but somebody asked about painting chrome bumpers . I did this its fairly easy to strip the chrome off with a sander ,flat it with some 800 wet and dry , prime it ,a lick of 800 again and paint away . It worked out fine no worries

Re: Painting chrome bumpers
if i was doing that job i would sand it down with a sander with 120 grade sand paper.blow off the dust, rub then by hand 320 wet then 600 wet,dry off the bumper prime 3 coats 'make sure that the primer is fairly dry before you put on next coat' then rub down primer with 600 wet and spray bumper but make sure the bumper is warm when spraying and lacker if needed.

fair play

chrome aint all that easy to remove . But you are right about the prep ,the finish is all about the quality of the prep .
