engine reving up
hi, have a problem with my spi,, after been driven it seems to rev at a higher level than it should, when i put my foot under the acc pedal and lift it up, it appears to stop.
have been given a name of aidan or alan bermingham who might be able to plug it in and check,,,
any one a contact no for him?
thanks

Re: engine reving up
if you can, check the condition of the vacuum pipes from manifold to ECU via fuel trap. my SPI had the same symptoms turned out it was cracked elbow joints.
if you find *anyone* with a tester to plug into an SPi or MPi post their details it here!

thanks, will have a look when i get back home on monday and let you know,,, would those pipes be readily available?
Re: engine reving up
mine dose that too from time to time always thought it a sticky throttle cable????
someone that could plug in would be very handy as spi's & mpi's are almost imposible to diagnose

If it isn’t broke then it’s not a Mini
Re: engine reving up
when i noticed mine first, i changed the throttle cable but to no avail....

Re: engine reving up
sticky throttle cable is easy to spot... and you are right it could be that. take off the air-box and look to see is the throttle lever coming all the way back when you take the foot off?
