Removing wallnut dash

Post by sconson »

Hi,

How do I remove this dash?
Image

Removed the bolts at the back of the glove box but the right hand side of the dash seems to be bolted in too, any suggestions?

Cheers

THERE ARE 3 BRACKETS .
1 EITHER SIDE OF THE GLOVE BOX .
THE THIRD IS ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE CLOCKS .
TO GET AT THE 3 TH EXTEND HAND & ARM THROUGH GLOVE BOX TOARDS LEFT HAND
SIDE OF CLOCKS 1 THUMB SCREW RELEASES THE CLOCK UNIT .
LEAVING THE 3th BRACKET VISABLE .

On mine I only had two brackets. If I was to remove the two air vents (twist the surround and they should pop out) and just feel around with your finger you should find it. There was two philip two to each bracket but it seems like there is a few ways of them being held in so this is just the why my car was.

Can I ask why it needs to come out? I had loads of fun trying to get mine sitting right after I took it out!

I cant get at the last bolt as the air vents have been replaced by speakers that are screwed in from the back

The temp gauge doesnt seem to be working so a friend told me that it could be the relay thats behind the dials.

i would suspect the temperature sender more likely,
the connections can corrode and stop the unit from working,
just give the terminal a wiggle round first to make sure its got a good connection,
if its not working then, try putting the wire that attaches to it on a bare piece of metal on the engine and have a look at the gauge,
if the gauge has moved it will be a dodgy temperature sensor which just unbolts from the head and then you can replace with a new one, not expensive,
i'd try that before i pulled the dash out

Don't put power to the wire  , just earth it off of the block, that should cause the gauge to read full which would identify a sender fault, no move on the gauge then the problem is clock side.
