Austin mini seven

Post by Quake »

Would anyone know what would be the approx value of a newly restored 1962 austin mini seven 850. This car to view would appear to be almost in showroom condition with only one draw back. During the resto a new floor was basically welded down on top of the old and quite rusty floor pan which is a big shame.

Anyway my problem is i dont know how much this car is worth and would be grateful if anyone had an idea,

Thanks.

If they did that, you would have to question the quality of the rest of the restoration job.

to quote Father Ted, "Cowboys Ted, they're a bunch of cowboys" :)

I agree this seems to be very shoddy work in the middle of what otherwise looks a good job. If we were to imagine for a moment that the floor was properly restored what then would be the value of the car.

It all depends on what someone is prepared to pay. There have been early minis advertised lately for around the €4,000 to €4,500 mark, but you would be expecting something in excellent shape for that. A new floor welded in on top of the rusty existing one would significantly reduce the value of the car. I had a 1960 Austin Seven needing restoration for sale for €500 but nobody wanted to buy it.

If they welded a new floor on top of the old they nodoubt used a wee bit of filler under the fresh paint job!
To put the car right would involve undoing and then redoing all the work so you would be better off with a car needing restoration. Personaly I like basket cases as you you know what you got at the start and how good it gets is up to you.

It's a botched restoration job and no matter how good it looks it would haveto be treated as such.
