mini thief!

Post by smur89 »

My mate Ste's mini was broken into in town. He reckons someone mustve saw them though with the alarm going off and scared them. Immobiliser was his godsend though..

Few scrapes on the ignition barrell is all there was wrong. They did the door lock so well that theres no marks and it still locks!

Left him a little nail scissors too, to say sorry.

when i had left my car keys in the house and my house keys in the car, my grandad was with me, and he got into my car in about 2 mins using the bottle opener out of his pen knife... he just fiddled with the lock... couldn't believe it...
If ya can't fix it with a hammer, its an electrical problem!

mini locks have never been the most secure tbh. a good imobiliser or secret kill switch is the answer.. i used to pop the rotor arm in my pocket if i was really concerned.
it follows that you sholdnt leave anything tempting in view.

I have a steering lock and pop the battery terminals. Steering lock just as a basic visual deterrent and a disconnected battery meaning they can't get anywhere!

a big chain & padlock round the steering wheel to the seat bracket.... better if the chain was wrapped in a bright plastic hose.. *nothing* is 100% safe.. we are talking deterrent here as much as anything.

Crap, that means they are getting closer to me so! I think Ill leave the Mayfair blocked in, in the underground Carpark. They cant take the 1275 anywhere, cause the accelerator cable is still broke! :D
