any interest???

Post by Kenneth Murphy »

hey guys, my friends dad is going into producing carbon/kevlar products, he can make anythin just wondering is there any interest on here? mite get a better deal! he needs to produce 10 of any item to get a good price, haven't seen quality yet but just said i'd ask, i'm getting a bonnet boot and arches for myself. if interested let me know on here or pm me! if enough interest i'll get a sample from him and i'll bring it to a run, (possibly MTM)

a full shell in kevlar would be worth the price... a shell as hard as nails, rust free and would make a great track car

it really all depends on price. like when u look at people like carbon weasel its insane the amount of money they look for. like doorcards even are expensive. sayin that i could be persuaded into buyin a bonnet, exposed weave doorcards and a double skin boot if they were good enough and the price was right. hmmmm a carbon fibre rear subframe would b brilliant too but ill not keep my fingers crossed on that one;)

just guessing but id say the price would be pretty extreme... have to make molds and tool up for the job. i never worked with the new stuff (kevlar, carbon) but id imagine it is similar to fibergalss/GRP ? did i read someplace that a vacuum is applied in the curing process?

it will probably rust under the carbon, un-noticed for a while.. then fall apart! plus you hauling around the weight of the shell *plus* carbon....

Shell?
If memory serves me right, there was a mention in a Miniworld article (many years ago) of a request by a Saudi Prince to have a Carbon Fiber Mini built. It was to be a one-seater , centered. As I said it was mentioned , but I never heard anything more about it.

You can get urq ones for 280 sterling but that is out of the mold not ready to fit.
What finish would be on them?

Edit: ones should read wings...
