Wheel bearings

Post by coop »

Im looking for two sets of front wheel bearings and the price im getting from the motor factors is 130 euro for two sets, which is way too much as there about 50 euro from minispares.

http://minispares.com/Product.aspx?ty=p ... HUB%20SEAL...

Where can they be got at realistic prices as I need them fairly quickly and dont want to wait for them to be posted.

Somerford will get them to you in about 3 days.

€130 is real rip-off Ireland though.

Did you try a few different auto factors ?

I used to spread the cost of rebuilds by buying various mechanical stuff from my local motor factor but not anymore. The price between the factors and UK mini specialists is hugh now eg.local factors price for a top arm refurb kit €48 Somerford Mini £12 so I waited for it and it will only get worse the longer Minis are out of production and more Minis go off the road.
Real Clubmans have a square nose.Seriously.

Thanks I will try Somerford on Monday and I tried a few places, the cheapest was 100 euro. Even with 15 euro postage from minispares the total was still only 60 euro

Yea the differences in price are ridiculous. Someone is making a big profit especially with the current conversion rate.

If you know the bearing sizes then why not try a bearing supplier in Dublin ? They can be bought for about €10 or €15 each.

one of the many brilliant things of a club or community like this is *group buys*.... not suggesting that it would solve your bearing question but worth keeping in mind.
having said that im looking to get a bearing too, so maybe we can split the cost of postage and get two between us?

there is quite a price difference between here and UK, on both new and second-hand parts.

edit: and not just parts: i got stung for €55 an auto electrician to tell me there was nothing wrong with my starter solenoid!

Sorry Keith only seen your post now but your right about group buys, speaking of which, I could do with some new front tyres
