sports pack and spray job advice
Can anyone tell me much the spoerts pack will effect the handeling of my mini cooper its a 1996 model and it handels like a dream at the mo.
I am also looking to get a sprayjob done on it and was wondering where is the best place to get this done and how much i can expect to pay for it?
any help would be great!

hi.
putting 13ins wheels(to fill the sportspack arches) onto a mini causes the following problems.
1. Increases the unsprung weigh. ie a sports pack wheel and tire combo weights in at around 12-14kg where as a ten ins wheel is much less. this causes heaver steering and more harsh ride.
2. Increases wear on wheel barings and suspension parts
3. Increases bump steer(when your car hits a pot hole the steering wheel jerks out of your hand) and tramlining(car folowing white lines and road camber).
4. Since the mini is so light, most 13ins tyres dont cater for that fact and are of to hard a compound. therefore the tire never works up to a good temperature, effecting grip levels.
Many with 13ins wheels have been happy with them and they do look very good. but in terms of handling, smaller is better. 10s best, 12s ok, 13s worsed.
As for a spray job. ya generally get what you pay for. since i spray my own cars i cant recomend a place from experience.
maybe someone else can help???????
hope this helps
