New Minis - are we welcome?

Post by athlonemadmad »

hi all,

I own one of the new model minis that have been out since 2001 - the question I have is whether us lot would be welcome/accepted as genuine Mini-owners - I hear some can get quite jealous of us upstarts! :P

The IMOC took a decision several years before the introduction of the MINI that the Car and it's owners would be welcome to join as are any derivitive of the original Mini , The Southern Region of the IMOC based in Cork would have a large concentration of New MINI owners many of which have Classic Minis as well , our Southern region MTM event which starts next Thursday will have an entry of 70 Cars and this year it's a 50/50 mix . The perseption you have of 'Jealousy ' is unfounded , sure there are a few people out there who like to hear themselves talking and voice opinions that may try to 'divide' the owners but it must be remembered the Classic is much more rare , approx 1000 new MINIs are sold in Ireland every year , ONLY 75 Classics were sold here new between 96 and 00 . Now who should be jealous ? , You are of course welcome and get along to a Run and join the Club and if you are prepared to travel give a run down to Cork for one of our runs. I run a specialist Mini Garage in Cork where We specialise in Both Minis and MINIs and in fact are Irish agents for MTH powerchip and in that capacity meet owners of both from all over and I can assure you they are all the same ' Genuine Mini fans ' .
if you need to get in touch re run etc call me on 086 8663828 or e-mail 621aok@indigo.ie

A MINI, there are some people who won't talk to you unless you are driving on 10"s. All are welcome and remember you don't even have to own a Mini to become a member.
