New Toy

Post by gareth »

Did a deal on a 1980 Mini today. Getting it next week. It turned 30 years old a week ago so is nct exempt and classic road tax. Fairly standard except a set of 10 inch GB's. All excited to get it now....

Watch this space........ :P

Under the new NCT rules does the NCT not still apply to cars registered after 1 January 1980?

The bill never came into law. The bill also included 1 year nct's for cars over 10 years old and fails for airbag and traction control lights and reversing and fog lights not working. It hasn't come into law however thats not saying it won't. The nct doesn't worry me it's the cheap tax that is important to me.

It will go according to the month it was registered. So, despite it being 1980, the actual 30th year may not be until November (depending on registration month).

Depends on the month Thomas. Cars must be over 30 years old so a march 1980 car will not quality for classic tax until next month etc. This mini I am getting if a febuary 1980 so only just qualitys. Check your cars reg date and hopfully next time you tax it there will be a saving for you.

the 4 pints plan has changed a bit now.......

This new mini has nothing to do with the change. The change happened when the van arrived. Project 4pints is now the van. This yellow one is gonna stay fairly standard in the way of quiet exhaust etc and will have rear seat belts fitted to suit a baby seat......

Meaning i'll have the van as a daily run around (when i get it done) the 71 as a bit of a run car for the hacking down the back roads and enjoying myself and the yellow 80 mini for my more mature family moments.
